The floods have lifted up, Yahweh, the floods have lifted up their voice. The floods lift up their waves.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his.
The mountains melt like wax at the presence of Yahweh, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
At your rebuke they fled. At the voice of your thunder they hurried away.
He looks at the earth, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power known.
For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.
He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground,
that they may know that this is your hand; that you, Yahweh, have done it.
Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array. Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.
He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.
The sea saw it, and fled. The Jordan was driven back.
Whatever Yahweh pleased, that he has done, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps;
Who sent signs and wonders into the middle of you, Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his servants;
To him who struck great kings; for his loving kindness endures forever;
And killed mighty kings; for his loving kindness endures forever:
They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk about your power;
He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can stand before his cold?
lightning and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling his word;
Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.
When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and expectation of power comes to nothing.
Then I returned and saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold, the tears of those who were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
Whatever has been, its name was given long ago; and it is known what man is; neither can he contend with him who is mightier than he.
All this I have seen, and applied my mind to every work that is done under the sun. There is a time in which one man has power over another to his hurt.
Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; and, you who are near, acknowledge my might.”
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measuring basket, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
who brings princes to nothing; who makes the judges of the earth like meaningless.
Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their army by number. He calls them all by name. by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, Not one is lacking.
Why, when I came, was there no one? when I called, why was there no one to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it can’t redeem? or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea. I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink, because there is no water, and die for thirst.
For I am Yahweh your God, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar: Yahweh of Armies is his name.
Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear.
As when fire kindles the brushwood, and the fire causes the water to boil; Make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence!
When you did awesome things which we didn’t look for, you came down, and the mountains quaked at your presence.
Don’t you fear me?’ says Yahweh ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’
‘I have made the earth, the men, and the animals that are on the surface of the earth by my great power and by my outstretched arm. I give it to whom it seems right to me.
Zedekiah the king said, “Behold, he is in your hand; for the king can’t do anything to oppose you.”
“He has made the earth by his power. He has established the world by his wisdom. By his understanding he has stretched out the heavens.
When he utters his voice, there is a roar of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and brings the wind out of his treasuries.
You, O king, are king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory.
How great are his signs! How mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. His dominion is from generation to generation.
All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and no one can stop his hand, or ask him, “What are you doing?”
But he will have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt. The Libyans and the Ethiopians will be at his steps.
It is he who builds his rooms in the heavens, and has founded his vault on the earth; he who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth; Yahweh is his name.
Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.
His splendor is like the sunrise. Rays shine from his hand, where his power is hidden.
He stood, and shook the earth. He looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains were crumbled. The age-old hills collapsed. His ways are eternal.
The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high.
You trampled the sea with your horses, churning mighty waters.
For as I live, and by the power of my kingdom, I have spoken, and I will do this with my hand.
The king said to Haman, “Keep the silver, and treat the nation as you will.”
And he showed them his wealth, and the glory with which the king had invested him, and how he had caused him to take precedence and bear chief rule in the kingdom.
For the chiefs of the satraps, and the princes and the royal scribes, honored the Jews; for the fear of Mordecai lay upon them.
Shafts of lightning will fly with true aim, And from the clouds, as from a well drawn bow, will they leap to the mark.
But strict is the scrutiny that comes upon the powerful.
Yes and without these might they have fallen by a single breath, Being pursued by Justice, and scattered abroad by the breath of your power. But by measure and number and weight you did order all things.
For to be greatly strong is your at all times; And the might of your arm who shall withstand?
Because the whole world before you is as a grain in a balance, And as a drop of dew that at morning comes down upon the earth.
But you have mercy on all men, because you have power to do all things, And you overlookest the sins of men to the end they may repent.
Neither will king or prince be able to look you in the face to plead for those whom you have punished.
But being righteous you rule all things righteously, Deeming it a thing alien from your power To condemn one that does not himself deserve to be punished.
For your strength is the beginning of righteousness, And your sovereignty over all makes you to forbear all.
For when men believe not that you are perfect in power, you show your strength, And in dealing with those who know it you put their boldness to confusion.
But you, being sovereign over your strength, judge in gentleness, And with great forbearance do you govern us; For the power is your whenever you have the will.
But if it was through astonishment at their power and influence, Let them understand from them how much more powerful is he that formed them;
Fire kept the mastery of its own power in the midst of water, And water forgat its quenching nature:
Come to her with all your soul, And keep her ways with your whole power.
For great is the wisdom of the Lord: He is mighty in power, and sees all things;
Behold, the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, The deep, and the earth, will be moved when he shall visit.
The mountains and the foundations of the earth together Are shaken with trembling, when he looks upon them.
He put the fear of man upon all flesh, And gave him to have dominion over beasts and fowls.
In the congregation of the Most High will she open her mouth, And glory in the presence of his power.
The Lord has not given power to the saints to declare all his marvelous works; Which the Almighty Lord firmly settled, That whatever is might be established in his glory.
At his noon he dries up the country, And who shall stand against his burning heat?
A man blowing a furnace is in works of heat, But the sun three times more, burning up the mountains: Breathing out fiery vapours, And sending forth bright beams, he dims the eyes.
By his mighty power he makes strong the clouds, And the hailstones are broken small:
And at his appearing the mountains will be shaken, And at his will the south wind will blow.
The Lord is terrible and exceeding great; And marvelous is his power.
The Lord manifested in them great glory, Even his mighty power from the beginning.
Such as did bear rule in their kingdoms, And were men renowned for their power, Giving counsel by their understanding, Such as have brought tidings in prophecies:
Elijah it was, who was wrapped in a tempest: And Elisha was filled with his spirit; And in all his days he was not moved by the fear of any ruler, And no one brought him into subjection.
And the fire sent from above to consume mountains and woods does as it is commanded: but these are to be likened to them neither in show nor power.
For they can neither curse nor bless kings:
moreover, whoever they will to succour and to make kings, these do they make kings; and whoever they will, do they depose; and they are exalted exceedingly:
I yield up also my authority over the citadel which is at Jerusalem, and give it to the high priest, that he may appoint in it such men as he shall choose to keep it.
If you have any enemy or conspirator against the state, send him there, and you shall receive him back well scourged, if he even escape with his life; because of a truth there is about the place a power of God.
And he that but now supposed himself to have the waves of the sea at his bidding, so vainglorious was he beyond the condition of a man, and that thought to weigh the heights of the mountains in a balance, was now brought to the ground and carried in a litter, showing to all that the power was manifestly God’s;
But calling upon the Sovereign who with might breaks in pieces the strength of the enemy, they got the city into their hands, and killed as many as twenty and five thousand of those who were within.
The second wrote, The king is strongest.
if he command to strike, they strike; if he command to make desolate, they make desolate; if he command to build, they build;
And now do you⌃ not believe me? is not the king great in his power? do not all regions fear to touch him?
whom all things fear, yes, tremble before your power;
You did make known your power when you caused the bold Pharaoh, the enslaver of your people, to pass through the ordeal of many and diverse inflictions.
O king, mighty in power, most high, Almighty God, who regulates the whole creation with your tender mercy,
But this head held the whole earth in possession, and bare rule over those that dwell therein with much oppression; and it had the governance of the world more than all the wings that had been.
The earth quaketh, and the foundations thereof; the sea arises up with waves from the deep, and the waves of it shall be troubled, and the fishes thereof also, at the presence of the Lord, and before the glory of his power:
Who has shut the sea in the midst of the waters, and with his word has he hanged the earth upon the waters.
but I do beg you to yield, and to enjoy my friendship; for I possess the power, not only of punishing those who disobey my commands, but of doing good to those who obey them.
The men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. see Job 9:8
