What does "Esther 4:15" mean?
The verse "Then Esther asked them to answer Mordecai" (Esther 4:15) means that Esther instructed the messenger(s) who had brought her Mordecai's message to go back to Mordecai and deliver her reply.
In the preceding verses, Mordecai had sent Esther a message about Haman's plot to annihilate the Jews and urged her to plead with the king on their behalf. Esther, bound by royal protocol, initially hesitated. Esther 4:15 marks the point where Esther decides to respond to Mordecai's desperate plea.
